Teaching middle school is much like a carnival ride. Each morning you get in the roller coaster car, strap yourself in, and hold on for dear life hoping you won’t throw up or pass out. At the end of the day a bell rings and the ride comes to a screeching halt. You gingerly step out of the car, go home and try to be a normal person. But you know deep within yourself that the next morning you will get back in that roller coaster car, strap yourself in again, and hold on for dear life. I love it. It is both scary and exhilarating. In my many years of teaching I have never had two days the same.
